N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A huge response from the community and the state of North Dakota has made it possible to send a Jamestown WWII Veteran to see his old unit.

The All Vet’s Club began a fundraiser for 98 year-old Ernie Hubacker to send him to his unit reunion and they received an unbelievable response. All Vet’s Club Manager Steve Gerhart stated that the numbers weren’t confirmed yet because they were still accepting donations until July 31st, but what they had was more than enough.

“Ernie only needed $1,700 to $2,000 in order to go. Right now, we have over $4,000 from the community and from all over the state.” Gerhart said.

Hubacker will travel to Milwaukee, WI for the reunion from August 28th through September 1st. All of the excess funds raised will be donated to the Daily Bread Program in Jamestown.
