(NewsDakota.com) – You could tell from the first pitch Post 14 wasn’t about to leave their home field unprotected in Tuesday night’s Class AA State Tournament game against Mandan. The energy was palpable from the start and Jamestown did not disappoint, as they pounded out 10 runs on 16 hits to breeze past Mandan, 10-2.

Jamestown used 10 different hitters in the game and all 10 finished with at least one hit. Of the 16 hits Post 14 accumulated 15 were singles. The big blast came in the form of Jamestown’s only extra base hit when Ben Walz cleared the bases with a double in the 5th inning to blow the game open.

Post 14 was leading 5-0 at the time and for as well as Joey Gebhardt was pitching it was probably enough, but Walz’s double put the game away early as they went up 8-0.

Gebhardt finished with seven strong innings giving up two earned runs while striking out six.

The win puts Jamestown into a matchup with No. 2 Grand Forks on Wednesday night at 8pm. The game will be played at Jack Brown Stadium and will be aired on ESPN Jamestown AM 1400/97.1 FM.
