N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County, Barnes County and Richland Counties are continuing work on connectivity between all three Emergency Dispatch Centers.

Stutsman County Emergency Manager Jerry Bergquist stated that in 2012, Richland and Stutsman counties purchased shared 911 equipment. The equipment would allow Stutsman County to share Richland County emergency calls and vice versa.

Barnes County remains on IP equipment to stay connected to both Stutsman and Richland County. Bergquist stated that the future goal with the project will allow each county to support one another.

A meeting held at the North Dakota 911 Association showed that all 22 answering points in the state would be interested in connectivity among every dispatch center in the state. Currently, the tri-county project is on hold until the state tries the connections. Bergquist stated that even if the state project fails, the local project would continue on.
