(NewsDakota.com) The only team to go undefeated in the 2014 North Dakota State Class B American Legion Baseball Tournament took their first Championship since 2001 on Sunday as Carrington Post 25 defeated Thompson Post 181 18-6.

As they had done somewhat similarly the previous evening versus Enderlin, Carrington rolled out early to a 4-0 lead going into the bottom of the first inning. Thompson soon responded with a six run second inning. Post 25 would then score the next 12 unanswered to seal the game and the title.

20140803-152221-55341046.jpgPatrick Freeman was named tournament MVP as he earned his second win of the tournament, and in Sunday’s game went two for four with two doubles, two singles and three runs scored.

Carrington at 26-11 plays the State Class A Champion Wapheton in Wapheton on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a ticket to the Midwest Region Tournamenr in Milbank, South Dakota. Thompson finishes as the State Runner-Up with a mark of 25-5.
