ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Day three of the North Dakota Class B Babe Ruth tournament saw Carrington, Thompson and Kindred move on. Packing their bags after day three was Valley City and Burlington.

Carrington 12 v. Valley City 6

In the day’s first elimination game, Valley City took a one run lead over Carrington in the third inning when Nate Rodriguez hit a two run homerun over the left field fence. Carrington would answer in the bottom of the frame on a Jayden Shipmen drive to left center that plated two runs. He would finish the day with a team high three RBIs. Lucas Guysler picked up the win on the mound for Carrington as they move on to day four.

Thompson 18 v. Burlington 3 (6 innings)

In the second game, Burlington took the early 3-0 lead on RBIs from Josh Knutson and Jacob Ruden. Thompson would answer back in the second inning scoring two runs then tying the game at three in the third when Cadyn Schwabe scored on a throwing error by Burlington’s Jarrett Vendsel. In the fourth inning, Thompson would break open the game with seven runs. They would repeat that feat in the sixth.

Schwabe lead Thompson at the plate with three runs and three RBIs. He also picked up the wind pitching in relief of Tyler Hegg from the second inning to the sixth.

Kindred 6 v. Park River 0

The final game of the day pitted the only unbeaten teams. Kindred opened up the scoring in the first when Ethan Lingen tagged home after Park River missed out on a possible double play ball. On the mound, Lingen made getting on base extremely difficult for the Park River batters allowing just five hits and striking out 10 in a complete game shutout.

In the fourth, Kindred would extend their lead when Brandon Hoyme came home on a batted ball by Danny Pfeifer. Shortly after, he would score on a RBI from Josh Dura. Three more runs in the final two innings would assure Kindred an off day on Monday and a spot in Tuesday’s championship series.
