JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Fire Department has asked for the city’s permission to place a life-sized firefighter statue in front of the city fire hall.

Fire Chief Jim Ruether came before the city and specified some of the dimensions of the statue, stating it would be life-sized and would weigh around 1,500 pounds. Council Members asked what else the Department would do with the statue and Chief Ruehter stated that they would cement it into the ground so no one could steal it and it would be placed in front of the flag at the Fire Hall.

The cost of the statue will be covered from the Memorial Fund and will be dedicated to past, present and future fire fighters.
