CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) After picking up their first two wins of the season, Valley City State ended the Labor day weekend with Stephanie Miller being named the North Star Athletic Association’s Setter-of-the-Week.

After droping their first two games of the Corn Palace Tournament to Dakota Wesleyan and Johnson and Wales University, The Vikings volleyball team picked up their first two wins of the Adam Longmore era on Saturday afternoon. Their first win came in a five game victory (25-22,21-25,25-17,19-25,13-15) over Dakota State. The Vikings would hold off another North Star Athletic Association team, Dickinson State, in a three straight games (15-25,24-26,14-25) to advance their record to 2-6 on the season.

To add a cherry on top of an already outstanding weekend, Valley City State’s Stephannie Miller was named the NSAA Setter-of-the-Week. In the four games played by the Vikings this weekend, Miller registered 61 assists. On the week she recorded 88 total assists, 7 aces, 39 digs and drove home seven kills.

The Vikings return home to Graichen Gym tonight (Sept. 2) where they host Concordia College-Morehead.
