Valley City would open the second half by driving down the field to take their first lead of the game, 12-6. Before the third quarter came to an end, the two teams would trade scores once again giving VCHS just a five point lead.

In the final quarter of the game, Trinity regained the lead when Jahner struck for this third touchdown pass of the game finding Ty Nordby. Then with just over a minute and a half to play, Cole Beck lifted the Titans to an eight point lead with a 32 yard touchdown run.

Needing to score to stay in the game, the Hi-Liners would do just that, driving nearly 70 yards to cut the Titans lead to two. On the ensuing two point conversion, John Halgrimson forced his way into the end zone to tie the game up and force overtime.

After winning the coin flip, the Hi-Liners opted to go on defense in the overtime period. Valley’s Jared Lentz would prove to be the hero over the extra period. On defense,  he striped the ball from Trinity back Cole Beck giving Valley City possession. Just three plays later he would rush into the end zone capturing the second victory of the season for the Hi-Liners
