N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Nearly 70 more students are attending schools in the Jamestown District during the 2014-2015 year and the school is experiencing a bigger deficit because of that.

Superintendent Robert Lech stated that it was good news that the school was getting more students. But, Superintendent Lech stated that the increase in enrollment is both a good thing and a bad thing.

The school won’t see the benefit in the funding until the next school year. As a District, the school has a declining interim balance due to deficit funding in the past. In other school funding news, the Jamestown High School is expected to be paid off this year. With the school paid off, the school would no longer be levying the 24.1 mills for the High School bond and the petty sales tax will be off the books as well.
