(NewsDakota.com) – Both Jamestown volleyball teams played Tuesday night and picked up victories in the Bismarck-Mandan area. The Jimmies were taking on NCAA Division II opponent University of Mary. The Jays played their second WDA contest against Mandan.

The Jimmies won their match in straight sets winning 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-14) to keep their momentum alive. Jamestown returned from a weekend in Orange City, IA where they took down two ranked teams.

Alaina Brown lead the Jimmies with nine kills as she helped her team to an 8-4 record. Jamestown is just outside the NAIA Top-25 and look poised to knock down that door in the coming weeks. September 19th is the NSAA opener against Valley City State.

Things didn’t come as easy for the defending state champs who had to rally back in the fourth set to force a fifth game. The Jays picked up a 3-2 win defeating the Braves (25-8, 23-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-10).

Jenna Stilwell lead the way with 15 kills and Julina Niemeier had an outstanding 42 digs. The Jays will host Minot on Thursday night.
