(NewsDakota.com) The Jamestown High School football team will have to wait for another time to end their losing skid to Minot High, as the Magicians came back after trailing at halftime for a 27-17 victory over the Blue Jays at Ernie Gates Field on Friday night.

Jamestown (0-1 WDA, 2-1) capitalized early in the contest, as the Magi turned the ball over three times. Scott Nelson scored on a three yard touchdown early in the first quarter, and Jays quarterback Ross Monson connected with Ben Nelson for a 54 yard score in the later part of the second quarter.

Minot (1-0 WDA, 2-1) found the ground game in the second half, lead by Karter Gorney who rushed for 150 yards on 31 carries in the contest. Gorney, along with Magi quarterback Ben Bolinski each scored on short touchdown runs, and Bolinski’s 51-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Duttenhefer in the fourth quarter sealed the Jay’s fate.

Jamestown has not defeated Minot in the last nine tries, dating back to 2002. The Jays will attempt to rebound next week at Williston.
