CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Coming off a 34-10 win over the Dakota State Trojans Valley City state’s Kurtis Walls and Nick McBeain have been named North Star Athletic Association football Players-of-the-Week.

Kurtis Walls was named the Offensive Player-of-the-Week by the conference. In Saturday’s game against Dakota State, the sophomore quarterback threw for a VCSU record 428 yards. He had two touchdowns in the game. His first came on the second drive when he connected on a 76 yard pass to Zach Johnson. The Arizona native would throw his second of the contest in the third quarter to Demondre Boler from 21 yards out. Walls averaged just over 14 yards a pass and 21 yards per completion. He also ran the ball three times for a total of 18 yards.

Vikings linebacker Nick McBeain was named the NSAA Defensive Player-of-the-Week. The freshman from Shakopee, Minnesota led the Vikings defense with 19 tackles in the Dakota State win. He had four solo tackle and 15 assisted tackles. McBeain worked his way into the backfield for 1.5 tackles-for-loss and half a sack.

The Vikings are currently 2-1 on the season. They hold a NSAA record of 1-0. Vikings return to conference play this Saturday September, 20 at 3:00pm. The game can be heard on 1490 KOVC starting with the pregame at 2:30pm
