CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Hi-Liner volleyball team edged their way back to .500 in the Eastern Dakota Conference on Thursday night with a 3-2 (25-10, 25-9, 23-25, 19-25, 15-10) win over Wahpeton at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.

The win advances Valley City to 8-4 on the season. In the conference the Hi-Liners pull even with a 3-3 record. The loss drops Wahpeton to 0-5 in the EDC and 1-12 overall.

Valley City dominated the first two games pulling out double digit wins in both sets. However, in game number three the Wahpeton Huskies looked like a brand new team. Led by Karlie Metejcek who led the Huskies with 7 kills on the night, Wahpeton would force a decisive fifth game.

In the Final contest, Valley City’s Madison McDaniel had fire in her eyes from the service line throwing down three aces in the game. With the help of Claire Olson who fished the night with 13 kills, Valley City would edge out their EDC opponents.

the Hi-Liners return to the court this weekend when they host the Valley City Tournament on Saturday. The Hi-Liners return to Conference play September, 23  with a two point road match against West Fargo.
