MINNESOTA (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State Men’s golf team claimed their third straight invite championship on Thursday afternoon at the Cougar Invite in Benson, Minnesota.

The Vikings combined to card a 297 on the course. The score bettered second place Bethany Lutheran by 11 strokes.

VCSU’s Danny Sam won the event finishing the round 3 under with a 67 on the day. The Vikings would have three other golfers finish in the top 10. Kyle Weibe tied for third place with a 75(+5). Shane Ost’s 76 (+6) was good enough to secure fifth place. Jake Richels tied for eighth with a 79(+9) on the day.

The Vikings did not have enough women participating to post a team score, but they too had a outstanding showing.

Nicole Mosiman carded a 98 breaking into the top ten at that final spot. Nicole Heinitz finished just two places back in 12th with a 105 on the day.

The Vikings Men look to continue their three invite winning streak this weekend on Sunday and Monday at the Jimmie Invite in Jamestown.
