(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School volleyball team capped off an impressive week of competition with a second place finish at the Valley City Optimist Tournament.

After earning 3-0 sweeps against Milnor and Edgeley-Kulm earlier in the week, the Tornadoes finished in second at Saturday’s Tournament. Oakes earned wins against Carrington and Northern Cass, but lost to Valley City in Pool A play, defeated Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page, Hillsboro/Central Valley, and Rolette-Wolford in the Championship bracke, but ended up losing to Valley City in the Championship match 25-16 and 25-17. 

Oakes has two matches in the next four days, the first is Tuesday at Ellendale, and the second is a home contest Thursday versus South Border. Coverage of both matches will be on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starting aroudn 7:15 p.m. each night.
