N.D. (NewDakota.com) The University of Jamestown Golf team won both the men’s and women’s title Monday afternoon at the Valley City State Invitational held at the Cross Roads Golf Course in Carrington.
The Jimmies won the men’s event with a two day score of 609. They were led by Michael Strain who ended the event with a tournament best 145 strokes.
The host team, Valley City State, finished in second place just six stokes back of the Jimmies with a team score of 615. Valley City’s Ben Sorenson earned third place in the individual competition with a 151 on the weekend.
In the Women’s event it was again the Jimmies who took home the title carding a 654 as a team. Jamestown’s B squad took second place with a 654.
Rachel Jahaner was the course champion carding an 80 on day one and a 74 on the second day for a 154 total.
While Valley City State did not card a team score, Nicole Heintiz and Nicole Mosiman had a strong showing finishing tied for 11th with scores of 187.
