N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department has received complaints of a scam involving a male individual with an Indian accent.

The caller claims that he is from the United States Internal Revenue Service. The victim was told that they were being audited by the IRS and must pay a certain amount of money. In the two complaints to the Jamestown Police Department, the amount requested was $2,500.00 to be wired to the IRS to keep the police from responding and arresting the intended victim.

More complaints are coming from around Stutsman County. Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser stated that residents all over the county have been receiving the call as well.

In one of the complaints, the caller told the victim that “The Police are on the way.” The Jamestown Police Department states that you should not wire cash to anyone you don’t know.
