Wagner 84, of Oakes, ND, passed away October 10, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Orla Carol, daughter of John and Anna (Aune) Hildahl was born January 1, 1930 near LaMoure, North Dakota. She attended Gladstone Township School before attending LaMoure Public School, graduating in 1948. She married Virgil Wagner on April 24, 1954, and together they were blessed with three children, Cheryl, Arlen, and Duane. They lived and farmed near Fullerton, where they raised their family. Virgil passed away September 10, 1986. Orla continued to live on the farm until 1989 when Duane and Linda married, and she moved to Oakes. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in November of 2010.

Orla was a member of St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She cherished making Baptismal towels for baptisms, which was her way of continuing to feel connected to the church when she was unable to attend. She was also a member of Wright Willing Homemakers, and in later years the Garden Club, Solo Club, and Senior Center. Orla was extremely talented in all kinds of crafts and needle work, but her favorites were crocheting and knitting. She loved crocheting afghans and doilies, always having a ready made gift for loved ones in her closet of beautiful afghans. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle person. She also was an avid country western music fan and enjoyed traveling to Branson, Missouri many times throughout the years, as well as other areas in the United States.

Orla was an all around “Mom” who loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. She looked forward to going to the farm on Sundays and playing games with the grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Earl) Zent, Eden Prairie, MN; son, Duane (Linda) Wagner, Fullerton; grandchildren, Ryan (Bria) Zent, Eric (Michelle) Zent, Tiffany Zent, Caleb Wagner, and Hannah Wagner; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Mia Zent, and Astrid Zent; and step-grandchildren, Sidney, Chelsea, and Maddie. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Lora Tischer, Daniel (Delores) Wagner, Alice Raatz, Virginia (Floyd) Schmitz, David Wagner, Roger Wagner, and Harold Gemar. Orla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Virgil, son Arlen, grandson Micah Wagner, brothers Clifford Aune and Clarence Hildahl, and sister Roseann Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. followed by her funeral at 2:00 p.m. at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, near LaMoure, with Reverend Roy Noel officiating.
