N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington Volunteer Fire and Rescue is urging the public to notify the Sheriff’s Office before you ignite a controlled burn.

The Foster County Sheriff’s Office has a 24 hour direct access phone to the duty officer and the Fire Department doesn’t. The reason for the announcement comes after several calls of fires have resulted in just unreported controlled burns.

“We are wasting resources having to chase these controlled burns.”

The business line to call before you have a controlled burn is 701-652-2113. They ask that you leave a message if no one answers.
