Ann Sorenson, 98, Oakes, ND died at the Good Samaritan Society in Oakes on October 20, 2014.  She was born to Mathias and Amelia Lindner on May 21, 1916 in Frazee, MN.  She attended school in Frazee and later in life she went to Dakota Business School in Fargo, ND.

On February 3, 1936, she married Frank Sorenson in Moorhead, MN.  They moved to Devils Lake, ND.  Frank and Ellen lived in Crosby, ND and then settled in the Crete, ND area in 1942, where they started farming. In the spring of 1943, they moved to the Hastings, ND area, farming there until 1951.  That fall they moved to the Kathryn, ND area and farmed there until retiring in 1976.  Frank died on January 3, 1985.  Ellen moved to Oakes in 1999 then to Valley City, ND in 2003.  In 2011, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Oakes.

For many years, she was active with Farmers Union Youth Group.  She loved to travel and spent winters in Arizona for about 17 years.

Ellen is survived by her sons, Clifford (Eunice) and Ronald both of Kathryn; daughters, Virginia (Arnie) Widmer of Oakes, Marjorie Sorenson of Pettsyburg, VA, Donna (Robert) Gotham of Chicago, IL, and Susan (Paul) Mark of Peoria, AZ; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren.  A sister-in-law, Phyllis Sorenson of Valley City and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, a great grandson, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.

The funeral service for Ellen A. Sorenson will be 2:00 PM, Friday, October 24, 2014 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kathryn.  Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Hastings.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.  A prayer service will be held there beginning at 7:00.  Visitation will continue an hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
