CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The draft of the 2015 Barnes County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan is now available for public comment and review in hard copy format at the Barnes County Highway Department, Barnes County Courthouse and inside city hall in Valley City.

A public hearing will be held Monday, October 27 from 6:30pm to 7:00pm for review of the plan and public comments followed by the Plan Committee meeting from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. The meeting will be held at the Barnes County Highway Department. The public review period will officially close at 7:00pm on October 27.

The draft plan will be presented to the County Commission on November 4 for approval.  After approval from the County Commission, the draft plan will be submitted to the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for approval.  Once approval from FEMA is granted, each jurisdiction included in the plan must pass a resolution to officially adopt the plan before the plan is officially approved by NDDES and FEMA.
