CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Hi-liner dropped their fifth straight Eastern Dakota Conference match on Tuesday night 3-1 (16-25, 16-25, 25-16, 19-25) to Fargo North at the Hi-Liner Activity Center.

Fargo North took control of the first two games behind the strong play of Tori Reinholz who tallied 4 of her five aces in the first two games.

Valley City put momentum back on their side in the third game led by Claire Olson who finished the night 16 kills. Sam Coit and Reagan Ingstad each dished out 15 assists in the match. Despite a late rally that saw the Hi-Liners cut the Spartans lead from seven to four in game four, the night belonged to Fargo North.

Alexis Bachmeier led all players on the night with 18 kills for the Spartans. She also tallied 4 blocks on the night. Beth Podoll added five kills for Fargo North and recorded a game high 23 assists.

Along with Olson’s strong night, Valley City’s Bekah Peterson helped the Hi-Liners with 10 digs and three aces in the loss.

The loss drops the Hi-Liners to 18-12 overall with a 5-10 record in the EDC. Fargo North advances to 14-11 on the season with a conference mark of 10-5.

Valley City looks to end their slump on Thursday when they travel to Fargo South. The Bruins defeated the Hi-Liners back on September 9th in three straight games
