(Oakes Chamber) The Oakes Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Leigh Harris has been hired as the new Chamber Manager.

Harris was born and raised in Oakes, the daughter of Ruby Harris and the
late Bill Harris.

After graduating from OHS, she attended Moorhead State University where she received her bachelor’s degree. While at college, she started working part-time at the Fargo Chamber of Commerce as their afternoon receptionist. Thus began her career in chamber of commerce and non-profit management.

She went on to advance her career to Membership Director in Fargo, then Executive Director at the Grafton Area (Grafton, ND) and Southern Anoka County (Fridley, MN) Chambers of Commerce and Executive Vice President at the TwinWest Chamber (Minnetonka, MN). The rest of her career was filled in with work at three other non-profits.
