(NewsDakota.com) – The USDA has proposed new rules for food donations in the country.

Recently announced changes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture may affect rules of different programs such as Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act, Emergency Food Assistance Act of 1983, and the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relieve and Emergency Assistance Act.

The USDA is seeking public comment on the proposed changes. The new rules focus on safe storage and distribution of donated food, and concerns that food banks make profits off of donated food.
