N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota’s newest coal-fired power plant becomes “official” this weekend.

It’s a 99 megawatt plant at Spiritwood.

Al Christianson is the manager of North Dakota business development for Great River Energy, the builder of the Spiritwood plant.

Christianson says the steam from the plant will be used for “agricultural purposes.”

A proposed fertilizer plant – to be built by CHS – will also use steam from that plant.
