CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City Hi-Liner overcame a two game deficit on Thursday night to pick up their second straight Eastern Dakota Conference win over Devils Lake. After picking up a win in the opening game, the Hi-Liners watched the Firebirds storm back to take games two and three. Despite getting down, the stubborn Hi-Liners rallied to capture a 3-2 victory 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-8.

The victory puts the Hi-Liners a game and a half ahead of Devils Lake in the EDC standings. That would keep the Hi-Liners in eighth place and would mean that they would host the Firebirds next week in a conference tournament play in game. With the regular season ending next Tuesday there is still time for the conference standings to change. As long as the Hi-Liners defeat Wahpeton next Tuesday they will be guaranteed a home court game in the play in to the EDC tournament.

Leading the way for the Hi-Liners in the win was Clair Olson who drove home 16 kills and blocked a team high five shots on the night.   Sam Coit dished out 20 assists for the Hi-Liners while Reagan helped out with 12 of her own.

The Firebirds dominated at the service line scoring 28 points on aces. The top server of the night for Devils Lake was Alexa Gathman who tallied 8 aces in the game. Mariah Yoder, Mikayla Wallace, and Amber Gathman all scored four in the match.

The Hi-Liners (7-12 in the EDC, 20-14 overall) wrap up the regular season on the road in Wahpeton next Tuesday.
