FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) In the opening round of the Eastern Dakota Conference Tournament the Valley City Hi-liners volleyball team was handed their first loss of the postseason in a 3-0 loss ( 25-20, 25-10, 25-13)  to Grand Forks Red River.

In a complete game, Valley City senior Claire Olson drove home 7 kills in pulled out 13 digs in the match. Reagan Ingstad dished out 10 assists while Sam Coit added 7 more in the loss.  

The Rough Riders made it a team affair as Kya Glenn, Taylor Adam, and Elli Strand all snuck the ball past the Hi-Liners for 8 kills apiece. In a strong defensive effort, Keana Burr made finding the floor difficult for Valley City coming up with 11 digs for Red River.   

The Hi-Liners will meet up with West Fargo Sheyenne on  Friday in the tournament’s first elimination round.  The game will be played at Fargo Shanley and can be heard on Q101, 101.1 FM, starting at 3:30pm.
