CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) At the school board meeting in Valley City Monday night, Valley City activities director Marty Bratrud announced that a number of previous cuts to  programs had been reinstated. 

 Of the $68,357 dollars in cuts made earlier, $14,186 was reinstated with board approval.

Some of that money will go into the hiring of assistant coaches for girls and boys tennis,  cross country, wrestling and boys & girls basketball. There are also two football coaching positions that are pending board approval along with softball and baseball coaching positions.

On another order,the board congratulated Valley City High School student athlete Annie Hart for her All-Conference selection in the Western Dakota Association and her being named to the All-State First Team in a swimming coop with Jamestown.

The school board also recognized the outstanding academic achievements of the fall sports programs. The girls X-country teams carried a  3.77 average GPA . The boys X-country team averaged a GPA of 3.53.  The  The volleyball team had a 3.67 GPA and the boys tennis team had a GPA of 3.34. All Those teams received the Team Scholars Award for their high GPA’s.

The young athletes hard work in the classrooms as well as the fields, courts, and pool truly made the 2014 fall season one to be remembered.
