S.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Valley City State men’s basketball team drooped their third straight game Tuesday night at the hands of the Dakota Wesleyan 96-76.

Despite the loss, the Vikings had a strong game shooting a promising 60 percent from the field. Freshmen Jayden Ferguson led the Vikings on the score sheet knocking down 19 points in the game and hitting 59 percent of his shots. Teammates Mac Kroeplin and Briton Bussman were close behind sending down 14 and 9 points respectively.

The opening minutes of the ball game were run-and-gun for both teams as the Vikings went toe-to-toe with the Tigers. VCSU actually held a  22-21 lead late in the first half, however, they could not hold on as Dakota Wesleyan was able to go on a 12 point run to grab a 48-33 lead before the end of the first. From that point on the Tigers took control of the game behind the outstanding play of Jalen Voss who posted 37 points for Dakota Wesleyan.

The loss drops the Vikings to 2-4 on the season. They return home to the bubble on Friday night when they host Crossroads College at 7pm. That game can be heard on 1490 KOVC starting at 6:45pm.
