Klose, 87, of Jamestown, ND, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday evening, November 19, 2014.

Arthur Gene Klose was born on February 14, 1927, in Jamestown, ND, the son of Peter and Leona (Parent) Klose. He grew up on the family farm south of Jamestown at Sydney, ND. Gene enlisted with the US Army on October 26, 1950 during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on September 5, 1952 and returned to the family farm. Gene and Ivy Giesler were married on October 4, 1958 in Jamestown. They made their home on the farm near Sydney until they retired and moved to Jamestown in 2000. Gene served on the Sydney Township board and was secretary for the rural telephone company. He was a member of the V.F.W., Elks, Eagles, and the American Legion, serving as Past Commander. Gene’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, traveling, and woodworking.

Gene is survived by his wife, Ivy Klose, Jamestown; son, Leon Klose, rural Jamestown; two daughters, Laura (John) Wright, Valley City, ND and Lynn (Jeff) Stadum, Pelican Rapids, MN; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lois Hagen and Mildred; and grandson, Grant.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Prayer Service: 7:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

Interment: 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 24, 2014 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
