N.D. (AP) — Authorities say more than 80 cats have been seized from a woman’s home in northeastern North Dakota.

Authorities said Tuesday they retrieved 82 cats from the Lankin home Monday after receiving a court order to seize them.

The court ordered that the cats be euthanized after they were deemed unadoptable due to disease. Authorities and the Park River Veterinary Clinic say the cats were feral and not vaccinated.

Health department officials and a Grafton deputy went to the home a month ago and found the cats in horrible living conditions. The court order followed numerous complaints about the health hazard of the woman’s home.

Authorities haven’t charged the woman but are investigating.
