(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team has started the 2014-15 season with a 1-1 record after a win in Lisbon on Friday night and a loss at Casselton on Saturday afternoon.

In the 67-50 victory in Lisbon, Oakes had three players score in double figures, lead by Bryce Meehl with 14 points. Carter Zetocha netted 12 points and Brody Bartholomew added 10.

Saturday’s game against the Squirrels of Central Cass saw the Tornadoes fall by a 76-66 margin in a contest that saw more than 40 fouls called. The Tornadoes had four players in double figures, lead by Ethan Zetocha’s 16 points.

Oakes will open up Class B District 5 play on Friday as they head to Ellendale to take on the Cardinals as part of a double-header with the girls team. Coverage of the double-header will start at 5:45 on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com
