CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Nearly 8,000 dollars was raised over a five hour period during the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation Pledge-A-Thon for the Valley City Health, Wellness and Physical Education Center on December 16.

Event coordinator Andrea Nelson says the Pledge-A-Thon raised $117,720 during the event at the Valley City Parks and Recreation Center. She says additional pledges can be made on the website at www.valleycitynd.org just click on the Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation button bar.

$12 million has already been raised for the $16 million facility. Another $4 million is needed for construction of the building to be located along 8th Avenue Southwest east of the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse in Valley City.

The Pledge-A-Thon received several major contributions from anonymous donors during the December 16 event.

Once it’s constructed the facility will be under the direction of the Valley City Parks and Recreation Department.
