After trailing after the first eight minutes by just three points, Oakes lead by six at the half, then increased the lead to eight after three quarters, before winning by 12, and also scoring more than 40 points for the first time this season.

In the battle for the Cowbell, despite the numerous amount of fouls called on them, the Tornadoes managed to rally late and take the lead in the final minute. Brennan Vance made the game winning three-pointer with just over four seconds left to keep the Cowbell in Ellendale for the third consecutive year, and sending the drought of Oakes attempting to win the bell on the road to at least 22 years.

Ellendale’s senior captain Adam White had a team high 25 points. Oakes was called for seven infractions in the first minute and a half of the second half and was lead in scoring by Ethan Zetocha with 17.

Ellendale starts the year 2-0 and 1-0 in Class B District 5, while Oakes falls to 1-2 and 0-1 in district play.
