CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City High middle hitter Clarisss Olson committed to playing volleyball next season at Valley City State University.

In her final season with the Hi-Liners, Olson tallied a team high 423 kills, 309 digs, 67 blocks and 42 assists. Over the past two season the 5-foot-9 standout has led Valley City High in scoring and was named to the All-EDC team in her final three years. Last season Olson helped the Hi-Liners to a 22-16 record and a berth in the EDC Postseason Tournament.

Olson was a three sport athlete at VCHS also excelling in basketball and tennis.

Off of the court the Valley City native looks to excel in the class room where she will major in math education. Things look bright for Olson who earlier received a science, technology, engineering and math education scholarship to VCSU.  She is the daughter of former Vikings women’s basketball coach Al Olson and Trisa Olson.

Olson joins a Vikings program that finished 15-18 under first year head coach Adam Longmore a season ago.
