N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown scored early and often on it’s way to a 9-3 victory over Bottineau-Rugby Friday night in West Region Hockey.

Jamestown came into the game with 21 total goals on the season, but exploded with four goals in the first, three more in the second and tacked on two more in the third.

Nick Urquhart rifled in a slap shot from the blue line just 87 seconds into the game to jump start the Jays and Cole Burkle struck just :41 seconds later to stake Jamestown to a quick 2-0 Lead. Urquhart added another goal in the contest, Austin Rene netted a hat trick, and Chris Hare, Jared Schultz, and Gage Thompson all put the puck in the back of the net.

“We had 18 skaters that were ready to go and that showed early in the game” said head coach Matt Stockert, “We play again Saturday night at Dickinson, so it was nice to play many kids and save some energy for the Midgets”

Jamestown out shot the Braves 33-22. Goalie Brian Wenzel finished with 19 saves.

The Blue Jays improve to 4-5 over-all and 4-3 in West Region Play. Bottineau-Rugby slides to 4-4 and 2-3 in the West.

Jamestown and Dickinson will face-off at 6pm MST Saturday.
