(NewsDakota.com) – The Blue Jay hockey teams faced the Dickinson Midgets in high school hockey Saturday night, and the boys picked up a 3-1 victory in Dickinson, but the Midget girls team came away with a 9-4 victory in Jamestown.

In the boys game, the Jays found themselves down 1-0 after one. Gage Thompson tied the contest with a second period goal, and Nick Urquhart and Austin Rene each buried goals in the third to lift the Jays to victory.

Jamestown improves to 5-5 over-all and 5-3 in West Region play.

Next up is a trip to Mandan on Tuesday night for a huge conference showdown with the Braves. Drop of the puck is set for 7:30 pm with the broadcast on AM 1400 KQDJ, 97.1 FM, and NewsDakota.com.

The Blue Jay girls fell behind 1-0 just :40 seconds into the game and never recovered. The Midgets got hat tricks from Rachel Lantz and Kira Zastoupil. Jamestown received two goals from Torri Kamlitz and Elly Milender.

Dickinson outshot the Jays 58-29, with Jays Goalie Ally Dion coming up with 49 saves.

Jamestown hits the road Tuesday with a trip to West Fargo. Game time is et for 7 pm.
