(NewsDakota.com) The Milnor-North Sargent girls basketball team used a strong second half; in particular a well executed third quarter to take down Oakes 54-33 on the road Tuesday night.

The hometown Tornadoes (3-12 2-3 Class B District 5) were tied with the visiting Bulldogs (6-9 2-2 Class B District 1) at the end of the first quarter, and were only trailing by a modest five at intermission. However, the Bulldogs found another gear that the Tornadoes simply couldn’t control; as they outscored Oakes 18-6 in the third quarter to pull away for good.

Minor-North Sargent had a team high 16 points from Brooke Tayer, while Karah Sandness and Lindsy Hansana each contributed an addition 10 points. Oakes was lead in scoring by Lydia Hansen, who had 10 points at half, but only managed two the rest of the game.

Oakes returns to Class B District 5 play on Thursday when they welcome LaMoure-Litchville/Marion. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts at 7:15, with tip set for 7:30 p.m.
