M. Spitzer, age 86, of Valley City died Tuesday, January 27, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.  Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at Epworth United Methodist Church.  A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church. Interment will be in Woodbine Cemetery.

Leona Margaret Spitzer, the daughter of John and Elsie (William) George, was born on August 16, 1928, in Bismarck, North Dakota.  On October 15, 1950, she was joined in marriage to Reuben Spitzer of Bismarck, North Dakota.

Leona worked at various businesses in Valley City.  She worked for many years at the Fair Store, Dakota Drug, and most recently Foss Drug, retiring in June 2013.  Leona was a member of the Red Hat Society, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary, and Jolly Dozen Birthday Club.  She was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church involved in Circle and the annual bazaar.  Leona loved to play cards with her friends and family.

Leona is survived by her four daughters, Sandy Goeller (Valley City), Pam (Nolan) Aycock (Houston, TX), Deb Kuhry (Valley City), and Vickie Bade (Las Vegas, NV); six grandchildren, Aaron Klein (Haymarket, VA), Sarah (Stacy) Mark (Las Vegas, NV), Christina Goeller (Fargo), Jason Ukestad (Dallas, TX), Ryan Kuhry (Valley City) and Kielley Bade (Las Vegas, NV); four great-grandchildren, Christopher Klein, Madeline Klein, Alexandra Ukestad and Samantha Ukestad; one brother, Bill George (Billings, MT), and three sisters, Darlene (Charles) Fischer (Billings, MT), Joanne (Clifford) Hodgson and Lorraine (George) Lund (Miles City, MT) and many nieces and nephews.

Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, her parents, three brothers, LaVern George, Clifford George, and Daryll George and four sisters, Evelyn George, Beverly South, Marilyn South, and LaDoris Kober.
