The night opened with the boys teams on the court. Valley City dominated the game from start to finish. The Hi-Liners opened the game with an 11-2 run and never looked back.

Coming off of just a two point game against Fargo Davies, Nate Rodriguez found his stride against Grand Forks Central posting a game high 24 points. Under the basket, Jared Lentz worked his way to an impressive 15 point night.

The Knights were led on the stat sheet by Aaron Knutson who tallied 14 points in the post. Jordan Olien added another 10 for the home team.

The win is the Hi-Liners second in the Eastern Dakota Conference this season. They now have a record of 3-10 overall and a league mark of 2-10.

After their last meeting went into overtime, it was another close game between the Hi-Liners and the Knights at Central. The Hi-Liners took the early lead getting out to a 9-0 advantage. However, it would quickly disappear  in part to the outside shooting of Central’s Liz Dub. The sophomore guard exploded for 20 first half points giving the Knights the upper hand.

In the second half the two teams would trade leads. The Hi-Liners led by Reagan Ingstad, who tallied a team high 19 points, and the Knights by SaMonica Davis who fought her way to 14 second half points in the post.

With Davis Dominating the post, the Hi-Liners would watch the Knights start to pull away. Then things went from bad to worse when Valley City lost Brenna Dieterle with eight minutes left to play when she fouled out. Just four minutes later Sadie Klingenberg would do the same. The Hi-Liners duo combined for 23 points in the game. With two primary post players missing for Valley City the Knights would dig a whole that the Hi-Liners could not dig out of.

While Ingstad led the team in points, Klingenberg (11 points) and Dieterle (12 points) both reached double digits.

Liz Dub led all scores in the game with 26 points. Davis ended the game with 20.

The Hi-Liner girls are back on the court when they travel to 4th ranked Lakota/Edmore on Saturday (Jan. 31) afternoon. Play starts around 3pm on Q101 FM.

The Boys are back on the court Tuesday when they travel to Fargo South for a two point game with the Bruins. That game can be heard on 1490 KOVC at 7:30pm.
