M. Hartman was born August 10, 1936 to Edwin and Katharine (Erdman) Grabow in Amenia, ND.  She was a 1954 graduate of Enderlin, ND High School.

On June 5, 1955, she married Vernon Hartman in Embden, ND.  They made their home on the Hartman Family Farm near Litchville, ND.  In 1977, they moved into Litchville, but continued to farm until retiring in 1998.  Vernon died May 26, 2000.  Mavis continued living in Litchville until moving to live with her daughter in Menoken, ND.  She died there under hospice care on February 23, 2015.

Mavis was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was a member of Naomi circle.  She was a past Litchville Park Board Member.

She had many joys in life.  She enjoyed a cup of coffee with her friends and cooking, especially for her grandchildren.  Her hobbies included gardening and just being outdoors working in her yard.

Mavis is survived by her daughters, Tammara (Jay) Opdahl of Menoken, Tonette (David) Rahrich of Bismarck, ND, and Stephanie (Arden) Falk of Ft. Ransom, ND; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Hartman of Sun Lakes, AZ; 12 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren with one to arrive soon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Chuck; brother, Leon; sister, Marlys Swalley; and triplet grandchildren, Allen, Ashley, and Alexius Hartman.

A memorial service for Mavis M. Hartman, 78, Litchville, ND will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 28, 2015 at First Lutheran Church, Litchville.  Burial will be in the spring at the Litchville Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City.  A prayer service will be held there beginning at 7:00.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be sent to Hospice.
