CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.) The third ranked Valley City Hi-Liner Gymnastics team opens up state competition today in Minot.

The Hi-Liners Coming off of their second straight Eastern Dakota Conference Championship which they picked up last Friday in Wahpeton with a team score of 140.85. They edged out Fargo Davies for the top spot by just over 4 points.

The Hi-Liners will be led by Taylor Johnson who currently holds the highest average in the east in the all-around competition at 35.76. With that score she is ranked 9th in the state.  The Hi-Liners are also expecting a strong showing from seniors, Abby Brown and Rebekah Fisher who tied for fifth place in the all-round at the EDC championships.

At the conclusion of the team tournament on Saturday, a number of Hi-Liners will be competing for individual titles. In the All-Around competition the Hi-Liners have 5 competitors in the state’s top 30.  Abby Brown leads the way for the field of five Hi-Liners in the uneven bars. Ranked 3rd in the state, Johnson leads the way for five Hi-Liners on the balance beam. In the floor exercise, Mchaela Thibert is the Hi-Liners hope for placing. She is ranked ninth in the state.  On the Vault, four Hi-Liners are ranked in the state’s top 40. They are led by Brienne Roehrich, who is averaging a 9.528 in the event.
