(NewsDakota.com) – The bracket was released and the University of Jametown Jimmie women will be playing St. Thomas in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament. The game will be Thursday, March 12th at 8:30am.

Jamestown finished the regular season 24-6 with both the regular season and tournament championship of the North Star Athletic Association. They earned the conference’s automatic bid for the winning the postseason tournament, but would have earned an at-large bid without their win Tuesday over VCSU.

The Jimmies have three seniors who will make their 4th trip to Sioux City, but still haven’t played past Friday. They have three straight exits in the Round of 16, but is this the year they finally break down the door?

Jamestown earned a No. 3-seed and will battle No. 6-seed St. Thomas in the first round on Thursday. If they are able to win on Thursday they will play the winner of Cardinal Stritch (WI) and Asbury (KY) on Friday at 12pm. Concordia (NE) is the No. 1-seed in their quadrant of the bracket.

The Wolves of Cardinal Stritch ended the Jimmies run in the Round of 16 in 2014. Jamestown played Concorida (NE) and lost back in November.

The games will be on the radio, but station coverage is dependent on the Jamestown High boy’s basketball teams success at the West Region tournament which begins Thursday. Keep posted to NewsDakota.com for updates.
