LeRue Stromsodt was born March 28, 1935 in rural Romness township to Clifford and Irene (Olson) Stromsodt.  He pass peacefully March 1, 2015 after a long battle with cancer in hospice care at his home in Valley City surrounded by his loving family.

Lenis was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  He went to school at Romness township school.  He worked with his Dad on the family farm before he married Vonna Lou Mullins at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church in Fargo on March 22, 1958.  Lenis’ livelihood and hobbies always seemed to involve the outdoors.  Lenis farmed most of his life, enjoying time on the tractor, raising cattle, milking the cows and sending his kids out to pick rocks.  He would later work as a carpenter on the side to supplement the family’s income as Vonna stayed home to raise the family.  He worked at Vibrasaun for 7 years.  Lenis also worked at the Griggs County Hospital when the farming ended and the hammer slowed down.  He would also pick up another hobby in his woodworking projects including various animals and holiday decorations.  He loved hunting, gardening and the great outdoors.  Family was very important to him, as he would love to see his kids and grandkids whenever he could and join in the arguments (discussions).  He enjoyed spending time with family and grilling one heck of a T-bone steak–he was a master of the charcoal grill.  Lenis didn’t seem to be happy until he knew everyone was full after a big meal.

He is survived by his wife Vonna and his five children, Tammy (Todd) Heck, Valley City, Charlene (Dean) Stenson, Sanborn, Mark (Laurie) Stromsodt, Middle River, MN, Michael (Holly) Stromsodt, Finley, and Peter (Shanna) Stromsodt, Moorhead, MN; 14 grandchildren: Jordyn, Aaron and Brandyn Heck; Leslie Fast; Mathew and O’Brien Stromsodt; Max, Allison and Rachel Stromsodt; Zach, Faith, Hope, Grant and Daniel Stromsodt; 5 great-grandchildren: Bryson and Josie Heck, Keegyn Heck, and Preston and Isabelle Schwanke; a sister, Dorla (Harvey) Hanson; and brother-in-law Donnly (Bonnie) Mullins.

He was preceded in death by parents Clifford and Irene Stromsodt, Dale and Belle Mullins, Jerry Mullins and Bobby Mullins.

May his memory rest in peace.
