MN (VCHS) The girls 4×800 relay motivated the girl’s team by getting off to a great start.  The team consisting of April Berntson, Mikayla Ross, Sharon Michael, and Mikayla Wolla placed second with a time of 11:05.86. 

Congratulations goes to Mikaylah Ross who improved her 3200m time by running 12:46.44 to place third in the event.  Her time moves her into the third place ranking in overall top performers.  She now also holds the indoor record in the 3200m for the junior class.

The 4×200 relay team ran well, which consisted of Abby Brown, Grace Scherr, Bekah Peterson, and Aleysia Burgard placing fourth in a time of 2:00.73. 

Also returning after a season ending injury last year was senior Abby Brown.  In addition to running on the 4×200 relay she triple jumped placing second (31-04), long jumped placing sixth (14-00), and ran the 55m.

Close on Abby’s heels was fellow senior Bekah Peterson who took third in the triple jump (31-03), seventh in the 200m (30.36), and eighth in the long jump (13-05).

The big surprise of the day came from a pair of junior high athletes running in the 400m. Seventh grader Sharon Michael placed third in the 400m with at time of 1:11.36 and Becca Thompson placed fourth with a time of 1:12.33.

The girl’s team put in impressive performances for their first meet of the season, which led them to a respectable 4th place finish.  The Hi-Liners will be back in action two weeks from now when we travel to North Dakota State University for the Class A Indoor on Friday, March 27th.

Boys

The boy’s 4x200m relay placed third with a time of 1:41.94, which consisted of John Halgrimson, Eli Allen, Gabe Brown, and Kory Johnson.

Leading the way for the boys individually was John Halgrimson who placed third in the 55m with a time of 7.04 to begin his day.  He then went on to place eighth in the shot put with a distance of 38’8” and finished the day by winning the 200m in a time of 24.08.

Not far behind John in the 200 where Gabe Brown who finished fifth with a time of 25.61 and Eli Allen who placed eighth with a time of 26.09.  

Casey Engelhard performance in the 800m earned him a third place finish with a time of 2:13.83.  He then went on to place second in the triple jump with a distance of 38’5.5”.

The boy’s team displayed a lot of promise with their performances.  Our indoor season will help prepare for the outdoor season starting in April.  The Hi-Liners will be back in action two weeks from now when we travel to North Dakota State University for the Class A Indoor on Friday, March 27th.
