N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – At their March Meeting, the Northern Plains Electric Operation Round Up Board of Directors approved grants totaling ,650 to help support numerous causes.

Operation Round Up allows funds to be raised for these grants. Members of Northern Plains Electric Cooperative voluntarily elect to have their electric bills rounded up to the next dollar. The average amount resulted in about 50 cents per month from each member and raises approximately $37,000 each year. Since the program was established in 1998, over $600,000 has been awarded to 802 different causes.

Below is a list of causes that are being donated to via Operation Round Up.

Randy Goheen, Carrington, to assist with medical expenses.
Evan Vanderbeek, Leeds, to assist with medical expenses.
Gene & Cindy Oakland, Cando, to assist with medical expenses.
Bruce Rabe
, Cando, to assist with medical expenses.
Cynthia Buchanan, St John, to assist with medical expenses.
Lisa Harmon, Maddock, to assist with medical expenses.
McHenry Fire Department, turn out gear.
Courtenay Community, playground equipment.
New Rockford Chamber of Commerce, electronic message sign project.
Carrington Wrestling Club, building/locker project.
Silver Spur Saddle Club, Tappen, youth riding program.
Minnewaukan Library, library books.
