N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – During planting and harvest times, co-ops always see accidents involving power lines and other forms of electricity in the field.

Katie Ryan-Anderson with both Dakota Valley Electric and Northern Plains Electric stated that in just two days, seven accidents have been reported. Over 130 were reported in 2014. Accidents between the public and power equipment has proved to be fatal in past cases according to the co-ops.

Co-manager Darrin Sand reported that there is more electric power running through lines than people may think.

The two co-ops have been on a media tour lately, reminding residents and farmers that power equipment and electricity is nothing to mess with.
