N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Five teens were involved in an injury crash that occurred roughly two miles east of Kulm at around 3:53 PM Thursday, April 23rd.

According to Sgt. Tom Herzig, 15 year-old Heather Ukanou was traveling north on a gravel road at approximately 50 miles per hour to a residence northeast of Kulm. The vehicle began to lose control and entered a ditch. The driver side of the Impala was severely damaged upon impact with a large tree. Two of the occupants required extraction from the vehicle.

Ukanou, 19 year-old Steven Mueller, and 15 year-old Katelynn Holmgren were injured in the accident. Two additional passengers, 13 year-old Zane Holmgren and 15 year-old Wyatt Nitschke were not wearing their seat belts and their injuries are unknown. All five individuals reside in Kulm.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
