Coach Nielson’s thoughts:
It was a beautiful day to play tennis and our team played beautifully. This team’s belief in each other and care for each other is second to none. It is a blessing to be a part of such an awesome group of fine young women. All the girls support each other, cheer for each other, and love to be out on the tennis court.

Abby Ingstad had a lot to prove today. Abby has had a couple rough outings and needed improvements on the mental side of the game. Abby played a good doubles match with Rachel, but the pressure was on her singles match. She responded by playing cool, calm, and collected. She played the smart shot to the smart location with good footwork, consistency, and belief. She ended up winning 6-0, 6-0 for her first singles victory of the season. She made the biggest improvement in one match that I have ever seen. Congratulations Abby!!

Clarissa, Reagan, Sam, and Maia continue their growth as tennis players. Maia and Sam started down 0-2 in doubles and then won the next six games. Reagan and Maia could have let frustration take them over in singles, but they fought through her singles against good opponents. Sam changed her game up in singles to efficiently take her opponent out. Clarissa found the angles in singles and doubles leading to high percentage winners. All four are reflecting and figuring things out on the court, making in match changes themselves. Their knowledge of the game is very impressive.

Rachel has been our doubles specialist, but has played a couple singles matches these last two meets. She is improving in her game with the unit turn, topspin, and shot selection! Keep improving!

Breanna – I could write the same things about her every time. She continues to play smart tennis with excellent location on her shots. She improves her record to 4-0 on the season.

On the JV, Hailee Peterson and Hannah Miller played a fantastic match. Both players were fierce at the net, moving to the ball and putting it away winning 6-0. Its almost unfair for our top JV players that we have such a deep team because these girls would be playing varsity on many teams in the EDC!

Next action is Tuesday when Fargo North comes to Valley for a 4pm start time.

I LOVE being a Hi-Liner!!
