Kuehne, age 60, of Valley City, ND, died April 28th while on a family vacation in Mammoth Lakes, CA.  A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 9th, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Saturday afternoon.  Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery near Eagle Bend, MN.

Kleda Rae Nelson Kuehne was born September 29th , 1954 where she was baptized at that time.  In December 1954 she became the daughter of Robert and Kay Nelson. Eagle Bend was her childhood, teenage and part of her adult life, home…a small friendly, neighborly spot in Minnesota!  Kleda was very gifted with musical talent.  She was in the high school band when still in elementary school and organist in the parishes of Immanuel and St. Matthew Lutheran Churches.  She was confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Bend in 1968.  Elementary and high school years were in Eagle Bend from where she graduated in May 1972.  She graduated from Wadena Tech where she learned secretarial skills.

Through church and school activities she met Dennis Kuehne from Clarissa, MN.  Kleda and Dennis were married in St. Matthew  Lutheran Church in Clarissa on December 1, 1973.  They settled in the Browerville area on a dairy farm until they moved to Valley City, ND in June 1991.  She went on to work for Valley City State University in the alumni office and later changed careers to become a graphic designer for Valley Officeworks.  For many years she was active in the choir at Trinity Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND.  In September 2012 she was diagnosed with GBS and was no longer able to work after that time.  She persevered to live each day to its fullest and help others who contracted the same illness, even if it were to just offer advice.

Four children blessed their home: Joy (Aaron) Zaharia, Minot, ND; Kyle (Janet) Kuehne, Minot, ND; Cody Kuehne and Shayne (Kaitlyn) Kuehne both of Valley City, ND.  The grandchildren are special blessings: Kassidy, Joylyssa, Dreydyn and Kasyn.  With her caring ways, she became the “second mother” to many of her children’s friends.

Immediate family that will miss her cheerful, generous and kind demeanor are husband Dennis, children, and grandchildren; mother, Kay Nelson of Eagle Bend; brother, Kurt (Barbara) Nelson, Laguna, CA; sister, Keri (Darrell) Krabbenhoft, Vergas, MN; mother-in-law, Helen Kuehne, Clarissa, MN; sister-in-law, Nancy (Bill), Elk River, MN; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her father, Robert Nelson, father-in-law, Norbert Kuehne, as well as niece Alicia Pieper.
